Attention all Houghton and Keweenaw County Students!

Do you know or have you ever heard of the VFW Programs called Patriot's Pen and Voice of Democracy?

Do you like to get money given to you for free? If you do read this and it will tell you how to do it.

Patriot's Pen is a written essay competition that is open to any 6th, 7th or 8th grade student in a public, private or parochial school and Home-Schooled Students are also eligible to enter. The Theme for this year is "What A Veteran Taught Me About America". The Grand Prize Winner gets $5,000 Award. Deadline to enter your essay is: it must be into a VFW Post by October 31st to be judged. You can find all the information and forms that you need in our Programs Section of this website.

 

Voice of Democracy is an essay competition that is written and audio which once the person has written the essay, they record themselves reading it. This competition has the same theme as the Patriot's Pen Theme "What a Veteran Taught Me About America" it is open to any 9-12 grade students. Top Prize is $35,000. You can find all the information in our Programs Section on this website. Hope to see a lot of entries this year!
